It was Monday morning and I was on a call with a dozen others who are my peers. Each of us helps the small business owner with their businesses in one way or the other. It was at the end of the call and we were each sharing our websites and going over how to make little improvements here and there. Time was running out and there was just enough time for one more website review, I volunteered. As my site was coming up for all to see suddenly the screen turned a maroon red with an outline of a security officer with his hand stretched out and the words of"don't precede malware danger." There was more but I was too horrified to remember exactly what it said. I was concerned about my website on being destroyed plus humiliated the people on the call had seen me vulnerable, that I had spent hours.
Files can easily get lost if you don't have good protection on your site. Some of those files may be stored in your computer and easily replaceable, but what about the rest of them? If you lose them the first time where will you get them out of again? Especially fix malware problems free is very important. Long-term sites have made a number of files and have a lot of data. Recreating that all would be a nightmare, and not something any business owner would like to do.
Well, we are talking about WordPress but what's the sense of performing security checks and updates official source if your own computer is at risk of hackers. There are malicious files that can encrypt key loggers in your computer. When this occurs, regardless of what you do, they can access everything that you type on your computer. You can find a lot of antivirus programs that are good . Just search for a credible antivirus program or ask experts.
I don't think there's a person out there that after learning just how much of a problem WordPress hacking is that it is a fantastic idea. Something I've noticed through the years is that when it comes to securing their blogs, bloggers seem to be stuck in this reactive state.
Can you view that folder, what if you visit WP-Content/plugins? If so, upload that blank Index.html file into that folder as well so people can not view what plugins you have. Because if your version of WordPress is up to date, if you are using an old plugin or a plugin with a security hole, someone can use that to get access.
